Darien Accessible Playground Opening

Darien Park District Accessible Playground Opening AdvertisementOn Wednesday, August 1, join the Darien Park District and SEASPAR to celebrate the grand opening of a new accessible playground at Darien Community Park!

A ribbon cutting at 10 a.m. will kick off the festivities, which include a magic show and balloon animals by Momo the Clown until 11:30 a.m., face painting until 11 a.m., ice cream/frozen treats, giveaways, and – of course – exploring the new playground!

The playground was designed to be fully ADA-accessible for children of all abilities to enjoy. The playground area includes a large main play structure with ramps, an inclusive revolution spinner, a sand play area, a chalk wall, and five stand-alone imaginative play areas – a firetruck, rock’n castle, drama village, weather station, and lemonade stand. The entire ground surface is rubber and the playground area is fully fenced.

SEASPAR is bringing students from the Center for Independence as well as our summer Adventure Camps to enjoy the event, and all of our participants and their families are invited to join us in celebrating this wonderful new amenity in one of our member communities!

Darien Community Park is located at the intersection of Plainfield and Clarendon Hills Roads, and the playground is located at the southwest corner of the park. View on Google Maps.
